| November newsletter |
|
This is the November edition of the monthly Eurocentric Wine Imports newsletter. One of our smarter readers suggested after the previous issue that we should have hyperlinks in the newsletter so that if something appealed to people they could click through to a web link, a list of stockists, the winemaker's website or our online store. Turned out to be easier said than done. An Apple MacBook Pro (this is my second in 18 months after discovering the first one didn't like drinking gewurztraminer) converts word documents into PDFs just fine but loses the hyperlinks (active links you can click to be open another internet window). Anyway, a friendly computer geek helped me resolve the situation so we have our first newsletter with hot links. Some of them aren't quite what I wanted but time has slipped away. I have spent countless days on paperwork lately, running up huge bills with my accountant (worse than a lawyer) doing my BAS and tax returns to satisfy the ATO and bank, and I have a stack more to do in the two weeks I have remaining before taking a desperately needed break. A new shipment arrives this week. If you forgot to order from the pre-arrival list email me to find out what is still available. Sydney trade buyers who want to stock up on red and white Burgundy, champagne, chablis or beaujolais can still make an appointment for next week to try a little of the new range. Retail customers can continue to buy online -- as about five people have! -- but between December 14 and January 13 the smallest quantities you will be able to order (unless you don't mind waiting) will be six bottles of any one wine, and at least one dozen in total. Please read the guidelines in the article on the website under the online store sub-heading. Credit card facilities are still in the works. I've applied to a gateway provider and a bank and am waiting for their go-ahead and for my web programmer to return to add the necessary bells and whistles. You can still pay by direct debit, but if you want to use a visa or mastercard, send through your order with a phone number and I'll call you when we are good to go. There's a fair bit to absorb in the newsletter. I'm not sure there will be a December issue so maybe I should rename this one Nov-Dec! Then again, you never know. If I don't write again before then, have a great Christmas, I hope you have a chance to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends and perhaps crack a nice bottle of wine or two. All the best, Neville Yates |
